In statistics courses, Mr. Lian often uses examples close to life to help students learn statistical concepts, such as the proportion of men and women in the school or the survey of students' satisfaction with the school canteen. Through the combination of theory and practice, students can learn complex knowledge concepts more deeply, so that learning is not just boring recitation of concepts in books. In the course of comparative government, Mr. O'Brien's teaching is more than textbook knowledge. He often shares many first-hand authoritative documents with his classmates to improve their English reading and writing skills when teaching the basic concepts of political science. At the same time, teachers have repeatedly stressed that "achievement is not the first, what matters is our ability!" On the night of receiving the results, the teachers also expressed their congratulations to the students excitedly!当然,知识的学习永远不止于考试,在AP考试结束后的两个月中,师生们都没有停止学习,相反,大家学习的范围变得光广泛也更自由。 Mr. Lian带领着AP统计学的学生们完成了不同的调查报告,将统计学知识实打实的运用到生活中。同学们分为了三个小组,分别以“深圳市枫叶学校高中生的出国留学意向”、“深圳市枫叶学校高中生对于网课的意见调查”和“龙岗区市民对于国际教育和枫叶品牌的了解程度”为主题进行问卷调查。在实地收集数据后,同学们还进行了卡方检验,找到了数据分析的置信区间。并在最后分别做了数据分析报告和最终的回报总结讲演。通过本次课题,同学们也认识到了我们平日的猜想并不是事实,就像Mr. Lian说的那样:“能支持我们观点的不是假设,而是统计数据。” Of course, the learning of knowledge is never limited to the exam. In the two months after the AP exam, teachers and students did not stop learning. On the contrary, the scope of everyone's learning became broader and more free. Without the pressure of examination, everyone's study is not only the knowledge of textbooks. Mr. Lian led the students of AP statistics to complete different survey reports, and applied statistical knowledge to life in a down-to-earth manner. The students were divided into three groups to conduct a questionnaire survey on the topics of "Shenzhen maple leaf school high school students' intention to study abroad", "Shenzhen maple leaf school high school students' opinion survey on online classes" and "Longgang District Citizens' understanding of international education and maple leaf brand". After collecting data on the spot, the students also conducted chi square test and found the confidence interval of data analysis. At the end, the data analysis report and the final return summary speech were made respectively. Through this topic, students also realized that our usual conjectures are not real attempts. As Mr. Lian said, "what can support our views is not assumptions, but statistical data."
在比较政治的课堂上,Mr. O’ Brien则将学习重点转移到了对于时事新闻的关注。我们比较分析了英国、尼日利亚及墨西哥不同的民主政策,学习了地理环境对于政府政策的影响。没有了考试的约束,学习便纯粹的发源于我们的好奇心。在最后一节课上,我们学习了国际政治和人类的共同发展,讨论了人文学习的最终目标。Mr. O’Brien告诉他的学生们:“社会学思考的最终问题,是我们如何选择一起生活。” 在这一年的AP课程学习当中,同学们通过老师的帮助认识到了学习知识的最终意义不是为了通过考试,而是为了将知识运用于生活。老师们在这个过程当中耐心的辅导着、帮助着同学们,Mr. Lian在考试临近牺牲自己的周末为同学们答疑,Mr. O’Brien也是每天放学后为同学们上课,这个过程让同学们从被动的知识汲取到主动地知识吸收,发掘同学们的好奇心,让他们从“需要学”变成“想要学”。 统计学和微积分100%的5分率也不仅仅来自于短时间的刷题训练,而是来自于长期以来对知识的理解与积累。在枫叶,我们尊重知识、追求知识、理解知识、运用知识。 明年,我校也会继续为同学们提供AP课程的辅导,为同学们的学习之路保驾护航!
In the class of comparative government, Mr. O'Brien shifted the focus of his study to the focus on current news. We compared and analyzed the different democratic policies of Britain, Nigeria and Mexico, and learned the influence of geographical environment on political policies. In the last class, we learned about the common development of international politics and mankind, and discussed the ultimate goal of humanistic learning. Mr. O'Brien told his students, "the ultimate question of sociological thinking is how we choose to live together." In this year's AP course study, students realized through the help of teachers that the ultimate significance of learning knowledge is not to pass the exam, but to apply knowledge to life. The teachers coached and helped the students patiently in this process. Mr. Lian answered questions for the students at the weekend of sacrificing himself near the exam. Mr. O'Brien also attended classes for the students after school every day. This process allowed the students to learn from passive knowledge to active knowledge absorption, explored the curiosity of the students, and changed them from "need to learn" to "want to learn". AP学分和大学优先选课
高中学生拿到AP考试成绩可以在进入大学后,用来获得大学学分,优先选课,或两者皆可,根据学生所申请的大学的具体政策而定。以下是AP换取大学学分和优先选课的区别:
换学分
通过AP考试的学生有机会获得大学学分,从而可以节省大学学费并提前从大学毕业。通常获得一个学士学位需要修完120个学分,如今,越来越多的大学承认AP分数可以抵用大学学分。
优先选课
学生可以跳过某些入门级课程,通过AP考试的学生可以直接学习更高级别的课程。
很多大学都有具体的AP学分政策,成绩达到规定分数后,既可以获得学分,也可以跳过入门级课程。
