G2- “Little Buyer”Activity

The beauty of mathematics is so beautiful that it can only be seen from a broad perspective; The beauty of mathematics is beyond words that it can only be experienced by combining with it. The theme of this activity is "I am a little buyer", so that students can feel math, understand math and enjoy math in real life.

In the past month, G2 students learned about the statistics of graphs, the calculation and application of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in the math class. Based on the RMB knowledge that learned in the first grade, combined with the current mathematical knowledge and ability level of the second grade students, the teachers carefully planned this interesting mathematical activity to let each child experience the role of a family "little buyer". In this activity, the children bought the goods independently throughout the whole process, recorded the unit price of the goods, calculated the total price by themselves, completed the payment and change, and recorded the relevant data in the purchase list in the form of a chart.

Real scenes can stimulate children's desire to explore and think actively, feel the value of mathematics and stimulate their interest in learning mathematics. This activity combines the mathematical knowledge in the classroom with the actual life, which not only strengthens the ability of mathematical calculation and problem solving, but also enables children to assume the responsibility of family and enrich their life experience. You see, from the video, we can see that all the children are enthusiastic and devoted. Don't mention how serious they are!

G3-MINI Double Eleven

To help students raise interest in mathematics and to improve their calculation and application ability, grade three held a "mini double eleven" activity last week.

On Thursday, with the help of the teachers, the students made promotional posters. There are four columns shown on the seller table. The tables include the items, inventory quantity, unit price, and discount available. The names of the posters are also very creative, such as "BIG SALE", "MINI Sundries Club" and "Mickey Tao Tao House". The decoration and format also have their own unique characteristics.

On Friday, the sale of goods officially begins! The two classes cooperated to carry out all activities. Each class set up booths in groups and sold goods individually. To clear the inventory, the students used many different discount methods, such as: buy one get one free, buy two get one free, and get 10 yuan off when they spend over 40 yuan. These discount methods even attracted some teachers to join in.

G4- Double Eleven Festival

During the Double 11 shopping festival, Grade 4 students experienced a series of processes such as questioning, investigation, collection, analysis and application of information, and realized the significance and importance of data in the era of big data. They learned about the forces of the "market" through mechanisms such as supply and demand, price, and competition.

Market Research:

The students conducted small-scale market research through questionnaire surveys, used various charts they learned to analyze the shopping tendencies of customer groups, and summarized the "three magic weapons of sellers": More Profits! Low Cost! Stock appropriately! Finally, the products of popular MAX, cost MIN, profit MAX were screened.

The "Shopping Festival" is in full swing, and little sellers and buyers are showing their housekeeping skills and determined to complete their tasks.

Data analysis:

After the activity, the students conducted data analysis according to the sales and purchase records, compared and analyzed with the market research results, summarized the experience and gained inspiration, such as: product selection, and cost control is very important, sales strategy is very critical (bundled sales), best-selling products are not necessarily the most profitable, store location must also be considered, and so on.

The "Double 11" shopping festival ended successfully, and the G4 children were no longer just experiencers, but more goal-oriented task practitioners, and the sales and purchase process of each product were carefully thought out by them, which is to truly consciously apply mathematical knowledge to real life. They can't wait to combine their sales experience to meet the next "Charity Fair"!
